Conference Applications: Call for Papers at ITYARN and ASSITEJ Focus Days

For Proposals for research papers, posters, symposia, panel discussion, workshops, pecha kucha, and screenings for either ITYARN Research Conference or the ASSITEJ Focus Days, please follow this link for a full description.

  • Deadline for proposals: 15th September 2016

  • Languages: While the working language of the organisation and the event is English, translation will be available from and into French and Portuguese. Abstracts must be translated into English however.

Residency at Cradle of Creativity : Next Generation 

The Next Generation (NG) Programme is an ASSITEJ initiative designed to support artistic and cultural exchange and collaboration between international artists interested in and engaged with Theatre for Young Audiences, aged 36 years or below, at ASSITEJ events. 

A Residency programme for 25 artists from the African continent and around the world will be held in Cape Town over the period of the Cradle of Creativity (19th ASSITEJ World Congress and Performing Arts Festival) from 17-27 May 2017.

  • 30 September 2016 - Deadline for applications for programme
  • 1 November 2016 - Announcement of successful applicants
  • 10 November 2016 – Acceptance of offer by applicants
  • 1 January 2017 – Deadline for applications for travel grant
  • 30 January 2017 – Announcement of successful travel grants

Performing Arts Festival Applications

International Applications to the festival are now closed.

Late submissions of the international applications MAY be considered once we have gone through our initial applications, should we feel that there is a particular gap that needs to be filled. African and Collaborative applications may still apply.

We expect to be able to feedback to applicants by the end of September 2016.

For late submissions:

In order to submit a performance to the Festival, the application form should be filled in online here below. 

If an online link is not available, then send 3 copies of a DVD recording of the performance to Postnet Suite X22, Private Bag X7, Muizenberg, 7950. 

In addition, the performance programme and supplementary materials (such as educational materials, posters or flyers) may be sent with the DVDs. 

Please note: No materials will be returned to sender, and one copy of all materials will be held by the ASSITEJ archives in Frankfurt for purposes of research and education only.

In the case of the Collaborative Platform, an example on DVD of previous work by the companies concerned will be considered, as well as a project proposal as required by the online application form.

The deadline for applications was 30 April 2016. 

The festival programme shall be decided by the Festival’s artistic selection committee composed of: 
Yvette Hardie, Ismail Mahomed, Lara Foot, Jaqueline Dommisse, Mandla Mbothwa, Warona Seane.

International advisors: Tony Reekie (Scotland), Etoundi Zeyang (Cameroon), Maria Ines Falconi (Argentina), Hisashi Shimoyama (Japan), Sue Giles (Australia) Tülin Sağlam (Turkey).
